When you use our platform, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

• Pages visited, time spent on the platform, and navigation patterns
• Referral sources (how you found us)

1.3 Information From Third Parties

2.3 Platform Improvement

• Promoting Small Business Connect to prospective members (using anonymised or aggregated data where possible)
• Featuring member businesses in our directory, social media, or promotional materials — only where you have given consent or where it is a standard feature of your membership tier

• Enforcing our Terms and Conditions and Refund Policy

3. How We Share Your Information

If you participate in community features, other members may see your posts, comments, and profile. Messages sent via the platform are visible to the recipient(s) only.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process, protect our rights, or ensure the safety of our members or the public.

3.5 Business Transfers

In the event that Small Business Connect is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred to another entity, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Information

We take the security of your personal information seriously. Our platform is hosted on secure infrastructure (Hostinger) and we implement a range of technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL) across the platform
• Secure payment processing via our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers)
• Access controls to limit who within SBC can access personal data

Your data is stored on servers located in Australia or jurisdictions with equivalent privacy protections. Where data is processed by third-party providers located overseas, we take steps to ensure those providers meet appropriate standards.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. When you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes (for example, financial records which we may need to retain for 7 years under Australian tax law).

Anonymised or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical and platform improvement purposes.

6.3 Delete Your Information

You may request that we delete your personal information. We will do so unless we are required to retain it for legal purposes or there is another legitimate reason to keep it. Deleting your information will typically require closing your account.

6.4 Opt Out of Marketing

You can unsubscribe from our marketing and newsletter emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly. Note that you may still receive essential transactional emails related to your membership even if you opt out of marketing.

6.5 Withdraw Consent

Where we rely on your consent to process your personal information, you may withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.

7. Children’s Privacy

Small Business Connect is a platform designed for adults operating or establishing businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our platform uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience and help us understand how the platform is used. Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit our site.
